surround sound...

I've looked around quite a bit, and can't find any specific converters/tools to use to convert my dvd player w/coaxial or optical output to be able to fit into my surround sound system. I have an old surround sound system with the 6 inputs (FL, FR, BL, BR, Center, Sub)...

is there a converter out there that can take my coaxial/optical sound and convert it into the 6 separate plugs i need??

i've seen that people have them, but no one seems to know where to get one.

I have never seen a "cable" converter for digital out.
You have to have a decoder made to accept the pure digtal signal from the DVD player digital output of either the Toslink (optical) or the SPDIF (coaxial).
The reason you have the 6 inputs on your receiver is for the digital decoders 6 outputs.

Basically you need a DD receiver/decoder. Any old 5-channel receiver will do. You should make sure that the outputs on the receiver are correct; if you need powered wires, make sure the receiver has powered outputs, same for non-powered, and also matching output jacks, etc.
