i really appreciate the help i am getting from you guyz....you should get paid for labor...lol... and I am not using the digital out i am using the direct 6 channel (the green, black and orange minijacks) to connect to the control pod. The 5.1 tests work properly and the 5.1 in games like battlefiled 1942 works like a dream but the thing is that no matter what codec i install i cannot get 5.1 for DVDs and for AC3 Video files like the Dolby Digital Trailers. I downloaded the Nimo Codec Pack, AC3 Filter and everything imaginable, but still nothing, no 5.1. I have all the applications because i have win 2k pro and xp pro dual boot. But on win xp i cannot use the method of installing the applications with their own setup from the audigy suite. When the program starts it cannot find audigy 2.....dammit. O well, but i'm more interested in getting the 5.1 to work on any dvd player or media player. I also have a DivX AC3 5.1 rip and it doesn't work in 5.1 either and the dialogue is barely audible since most of it is in the center channel and i am not getting it....GRRRRR wht should i do???? i hate creative support.......those illiterate monkeys! I know a billion times more than them and they treat me like an idiot

This Creative driver issue has been nothing but a royal pain in the ass. I am in the exact same position, I lost the CD. After searching for hours, I found out you can purchase another for $15 (rip off). I havn't found any way to get the EAX controls, hopefully the download above will help me out.

Now as to your problem, I have spent many head banging hours trying to get my soundcard to work. I also have a AC3 encoded 5.1 Surround system. Here's what you need to do.

    1. Connect the S/PDIF cord from the DVD player to the sound card, if you have not already done so.
    2. Go to your DVD player, change the Audio option to S/PDIF input.
    3. Go to the Creative EAX Settings and make sure software decoding is off! Here's what happens if you don't do this step. The signal gets decoded to 2 channels before ever reaching your external decoder. This is where I am stuck, since the EAX Settings application is on the installation CD, which is what I lost.

I think that will fix your problem, at least that's how I fixed mine the first time.

Correction, #3 is NOT under EAX Settings, it's under Audio HQ-> Decoder, switch it to S/PDIF (provided you have an external decoder).

so you're saying that you have an oem and it worked with the cd? and now that you lost it you can't install the applications from creatives site? i mailed them many times and they told me that they are not responsible to OEM driver...i was like wtf....its made by creative technologies in the control panel... They told me to give them the model number....i'm too lazy to check i know its the duplicate of the Audigy 2 without the gold jacks or the software. If the downloads don't work (Except for EAX 4.0 Update) then how should i expect the cd to work because i downloaded teh cd image and installed those apps, but still teh main setip doesn't work btu it works if i install them individually, but not in XP only in 2000 pro (i have 2k pro/xp pro dual boot). I got the 5.1 working by turning on software decoding and setting the dvd player to spdif. The playback with 5.1 is veryy choppy and gets stuck a lot and looses sync...maybe its just the file i downloaded. I downloaded a whole DVD with a bunch of .vobs and i watched it (only for testing purposes, cuz my dvd drive (samsung sd616t) stopped reading dvds a long time ago but still reads cds...wht a stupid drive) So if you guys have neupdates of fixes to the problems above.....plz reply back

I had the same problem with the studdering. Turned out it was Norton Antivirus. I just did right click->disable, before I play a DVD.

I had the OEM verson as well, and I still have problems with the left speaker not working.

But at least I can play DVDs : (

This is a problem for myself as well, unfortunately I tried a clean install of the Audigy with xp pro deleting all apllications as well. I have the CD I purchassed with it but none of the setup programs work with it. ASfar as the utilization of the card at times it works with 5.1 sometimes it doesn't. goes in and out even down to just center channel. Creative support is non existant. 2 weeks have went by and they dont even acknowledge my existance. Word to everyone out there, Creative IS overpriced, They are not great cards, and they totally lack custoimer support. This is coming from someone who builds home computers to resell, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM CREATIVE. you will regret it!
