Good DVD ripping program?
I'd like to backup my DVD's into my computer in some kind of compressed form (small...don't want to use up half my hard drive). I know avi is pretty compressed, that would work. This way I can just keep them on my computer!

I use ForceASPI 1.8, DVDDecrypter, XMPEG, DVDMism, and DivX Codec. I average about 750-900MB/movie.

Super DVD Ripper, DVDDecrypter, DVDtoMPEG.
Out of all those I prefer Super DVD Ripper for its ease of use and convenience.

If you don't plan on burning them to DVD later I'd go with EvilRick's suggesting and transcode into Divx.

i've been using a program called CladDvd (cladDVD.net) and it's got the tools to rip a dvd and then encode it into an AVI file. I rip them to make music videos so after converting the file into an AVI there's a separate mp3 file with the audio. you'll need some other program to combine the AVI and mp3 file into an mpeg2 or mpeg4. hope that helps.
