DMZ help

I have a cable modem, 4 port router, and 5 port switch. Is there a way to get 3 computers DMZ and 2 computers firewalled? The router only has the capability to DMZ 1 computer.

what router do you have?

most cases the home routers only allow one computer into the DMZ.

why not forward the ports that each computer needs. putting a computer into the DMZ exposes the whole computer to the internet leaving it unprotected.

tell us why you want to put three computers into the DMZ

Its a linksys 4 port wired router. I am splitting my connection with my roommates and they want to download stuff. I'll have a p2p program running, and then my roommate runs a different p2p program and everything lags terribly. Basically its just so me and my other two roommates can run whatever p2p they want and download what they want without lagging the entire network. the other two computers don't do any downloading.

what is lagging the whole network up is him and you are both uploading files at the same time. disable sharing in the p2p programs and the problem should go away

a linksys router can only allow one computer in the DMZ at the same time.

is your friend using Direct Connect?

my roommate uses kazaa, and I use edonkey. When I'm doing stuff over the network, it works fine when edonkey is running alone, but when kazza and edonkey are running at the same time, it just lags really bad.

Look at the ul and dl stats on both pcs then add them together that is the total bandwidth you are using. If it is near 50 % of your rated bw you are having collision problems. Try going to shareaza on both pcs and turn off sharing unless only one is online.
