2003 server terminal services license...
I have been messing around with Server 2003 and I would like to be able to use the terminal services. However, after I installed it and tried to setup a licensing server, it says that I need a key (different one depending on what agreement I choose) to activate the license server.
I thought Windows 2000 terminal services used to be free? I don't remember it asking for an activation like this.
Is there any way to set up my server that's running 2003 so that I can connect to it with another computer and not have to spend money on Microsoft licensing, etc.???

W2K TS was not always "free". Only if you had the latest OS (as in W2k and newer clients) or were using Administration mode.
That has changed for 2003. You can still do Remote Admin mode though. Remote Desktop for Administration is enabled through the System control panel’s Remote Tab.

Welcome Romulus, 2003 server is setup different as far as licenses are concerned. If I remember correctly MS has configured this to be more compatable with .NET and so that you pay for licensing by "seat" (I can't remember what they call it now). The licenses are renewed annually now so that there is a yearly payment (haven't heard if they modified that yet) and activation on each individual "seat".
I get all my News from FNC and right blogs, so I know I am fair and balanced.

I was just trying to be able to connect to the servers to cut down on walking out of the room when ever I have to make a change.
However, Server2003 won't let me in.
It works on all of the 2000 boxes with terminal services, but not 2003.
At the moment I have terminal services and the licensing installed on the 2003 box
I have added my domain name and administrator account for the domain to the 'Remote Desktop Users' and 'terminal server computers' groups.
remote tab setting is enabled to enable users to access the computer remotely...
But when I try to access the computer on my machine through TS it gives me the message "The terminal server has ended the connection"...
Does anyone know how I can just get the terminal services running on the 2003 server so I can just get in for remote administration???
