Wireless Network and Vonage (need to reset router for internet)

I recently installed a microsoft Wireless Network in my apt. Also hooked up Vonage broadband phone service.

However the router is constanlty needing to be resetted in order for the internet to work.

Does anyone know why this might be ? I tried taking the phone out of the equation but still same problem

I am running Windows XP

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks!

Have you looked to see if there are other wireless networks in your area that maybe interfering with your connection. I had a similiar issues until I found a channel that dealt with the multiple wireless networks in my complex.

You should be able use the wireless card's utility to see which networks are available and what channels they are on. Most routers default to to channel 7 (if I remember correctly), so change your channel to something other than what the others are using. Channel 5 works well for me, but don't use it if you are in the DC area.

My linksys and the netgear mr814v2 here both default to ch. 11. Like he said try flipping channels also keep router and reciever atleast a foot away from monitor and other interference.

802.11b required at least a 5 channel seperation to avoid signal crossing, so it you're using 802.11b, switch it to channel 1, which should keep it out of other's range. You may also want to configure your machine NOT to connect to any available network.......
