    Sharing Internet

Okay, I have two Dell Demension desktops with Windows XP home edition which i am trying to share the internet together. I have purchased a LINKSYS 4 -port switch router and a LINKSYS 10/100 Ethernet Adapter. It seems that when i hook the computers up, i get the internet for about 5-10 minutes, then it just shuts off to both computers. Can somebody help me? I have comcast high speed internet as the primary connection.

This sounds eerily familiar to another thread started by someone with your NIC...

If all connections and drivers are installed properly, I might believe the router itself is suspect(or the network cables-are they straight-through, or crossover cables?). To be honest, you seemed confused as to how the modem/router/computers should be wired. Do you have a friend's connection you can test the router on?

Have you configured the router? If not, you should if for no other reason than changing the default password.

There may be a setting for closing the connection.

Do you have another DHCP server on your internet connection (ie server, etc)?
