Try the home networking wizard-if is still called that-I have windows 98. Also, make shure the files you want to see are listed as "shared."

hmmm..really all you should have to do is "share" some files....right click on the folder you want to share and look for "sharing"...then it should be self expanatory

then after you share the folders etc give it a few minutes and go to the other comp and look in 'my network places' and you should see the shared files.

one thing to remember though....XP firewall will not allow you to share files like this...so you need to turn the firewalls off by right clicking the network connection and clicking properties and "advanced" then uncheck the firewall........or maybe there is a way to configure the firewall to allow sharing files but I have never tried that

maybe someone else here will know how to do that

I wouldnt bother running a wizard...you should already be able to share files since both machines are xp pro etc (wizards turn on the firewal etc and do other things behind the scenes)

also, it POSSIBLE that you might need to have an account with the same name on both comps...not sure about that though

About the file sharing through the firewall...
SP2's new firewall will allow you to share files...just go to the control panel and select Firewall (or something like that) in classic mode and look at all the tabs!

try www.ultravnc.com for remote access. And furthermore, www.maxivista.com could be interesting as it allows you to use the desktop monitor as a second (dual) monitor of your laptop (and other way round as well of course).
