USB MAC address?
I have to set up a Linksys router today for some folks who have been using just a cable modem and USB cable to their PC. Normally when I install a Linksys router, I clone the MAC address of the PC so I don't have to call the ISP and register a new MAC. But how does it work when you use a USB cable? What do the ISPs use to register the IP?You can't fix stupidity.

Does any mac show in ipconfig /all if the computer is still connected via USB? My guess is that there is a Nic in the modem and it is using that mac.
Just copy it down and enter it into the router if so.

Actually it turned out Insightbb has a pretty smooth setup CD that took care of everything. Installation was a snap.
BTW, that sig almost sent me into an epileptic fit.You can't fix stupidity.

jkrohn, your signature is horrendous. Thank god for firefox and adblock, since i don't want to block all signatures.
