My LAN says it is connected at 100mbps, however i am unable to access the internet or use aol etc. It is sending packets of information but it isn't receiving any at all. When i go to support it gives me an ip adress and a subnet mask but no default gateway. Under adress type it says automatic private ip address, but it should say assigned by dhcp. I have no idea what is going on and i am thouroughly mad. I just need to know how to get my adress type back to assigned by dhcp. I am running xp and i am connected straight into the cable modem which has been confirmed as working properly. I have tried repairing, although it says it is unable to renew ip adress. When my roommates computer is plugged directly into the modem his ip is 24.95.39.228 and when mine is it is 169.xx.xx.xxx. Thanks
