Next time it happens check the leads with a voltmeter. I'll bet you are shorting out somewhere, but the DSL is running on another pair of wires within the bundle...

how many volts ? i am residential and only have one green and one red wire and thats it, no other wires, we dont use blue or black or yellow or anything else here, and also only two wires run from box to telephone pole
which is hot and which is neutral, or are both hot ?
at what times and how many volts ?
how do phone lines work ?
why would dsl work and not phones ? they are silent no static or anything, just totally dead
thanks |

Tell verizon that your problem does not exist inside of your house but outside, where the line connects to the box, those visits have to be free. My friend had a problem with rain at the old apt he lived at, but never complained. My phones used to get a terrible amount of static and eventually my DSL and phone went out and they had to come and fix the outside for free. Complain about static and that it isn't just going out and make sure to mention that you haven't added a new phone or anything lately. They are responsible for maintaining their hardware. |

clearbluereason said it first. Its free if its outside your home.
Make sure they understand that it only happens during the rain.
