| Opera won't or can't connect
Hi,
I downloaded the full version of Opera 7.54 and installed all the components as prompted. When I try to run it it says
"Could not locate the remote server"
This machine is running Win ME , AMD XP 2800, 384 MB ram.
It connects up and surfs just fine when using IE.
It runs Outlook and AOL over the wireless connection I posted about below this so I am kinda at a loss as to why it won't run Opera which I use on the other machines including a MAC.
We have moved our operation to France and this PC has been the last to get up and going again which is why I have all these questions at once when I have been an almost non poster in the last few months.
Anyone else experienced this?

Are you behind a ISA server proxy where the firewall client is required? Or any proxy for that matter?

Hi,
Not as far as I know.
I meant to say above that it won't even go to the Routers page ( 192.168.0.1) in Opera. |

can you check your proxy settings in IE?
See if anything is in there, its possible they applied the proxy setting as a policy. |

Have you made sure you are not in work offline mode? |

Also take a look at Tools ---> Quick Preferences ---> Enable Proxy Servers. Unless you knowingly have a specific proxy sever configuration, it should be unchecked for most users, but it is easy to accidentally check when clicking around in the quick preferences menu.
