HELP ME PLEASE
undefined
At last i have finally managed to get my home network sort of up and running.
This pc (xp pro desktop) is the host pc and connected up to thomson 570/570i router, using ethernet cable.
Client pc 1 is another xp pro desktop connecting to the internet via the router and a wireless network card.
Client pc 2 is laptop running xp home and connects to internet via the router and wireless network card
Client pc 3 is laptop running xp home and connects to internet via the router and wireless network card
Host pc can access the 2 laptops files (Client pc numbers 2 and 3)
Laptops are unable to access host pc files yet they are able to see them on the network. Client pc number 1 is unable to access host pc but neither can host pc access this one either. Error message is that do not have permission to veiw these files.
Have run network wizard on all pc's, all have simple file sharing enabled, and all pc's are able to connect to the internet (at least we got that bit working now )
Have made sure that DCHP is enabled on host pc
Have enabled Netbios over TCP/IP on host pc
Have TCP/IP filtering on on host pc
Host pc is obtaining IP address automatically, also obtain DNS server automatically
All pc's have SP2 installed, i have also disabled all firewalls on host pc to hopefully enable the file sharing, but with no luck at all (have even tried with the virus scanner disabled hoping this will help but it did'nt).
I am now well and truely stuck, dont know what else i can do to get this network running smoothly, so please someone take pity on me and tell me where i am going wrong and what i have either done wrong or havent yet done.
Thanks all
Pippa
