| Cannot log in to Yahoo mail
For the past few days I have been unable to log in to my Yahoo! Mail account. When trying to log in on the web page I get a download box that reads something like:
Getting File Information:
login?rand=8at7kss7ilch from uk.f601.mail.yahoo.com
then after a minute or two
Internet Explorer cannot download login?rand=8at7kss7ilch
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The request site is either unavailable or cannot be found
I have tried logging in as a different user - that works ok.
I have tried logging in on a different computer (public library) – that works.
I tried using different browsers (Netscape and FireFox) on my computer – this does not work.
I've asked Yahoo Customer Care, they say it's probably my ISP, I'm waiting to hear from them. I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas. |

Have you tried looking at your hosts file? I don't know what OS you have, but in Win 98,ME it's in C:\Windows and in Win 2000,XP it's in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc.
Just open it with notepad. If there are any lines below "127.0.0.1 localhost" just delete them. DON'T delete the above line, though.

Do you have access to another computer to see if you can get in?
And are you using a firewall? If so, shut it off so Yahoo can send a cookie if that's the problem.

It's probably something on Yahoo's end and they will never admit it, it will just start working... Happens every now and then on Netscape.
You might want to try this: Create a new account and see if it will let you. If it won't, then it's them.
Do you have any "spam cop" or anti ad ware stuff running? |

I’ve tried connecting with an old account, and that worked fine. This problem has been constant for several days now.
I don’t have any anti-ad stuff running, I use adaware |

Just to let you know. I had the exact same problem with my Yahoo mail and I have the paid for version. My husband has the free version and yet he got in last night no problem-o.
Something has changed over the last 48 hours, but I don't know what.
Going to call them tomorrow and report it. |

Oh right. It's such a strange problem, I was sure it must be something on my computer, like a corrupt file. I'd be interested to know what they say on the phone.
I have the free version by the way (not that I use it now). |

I have this same exact problem but on some email addresses but not others. Get a file download bar when I enter my login information, and then it gives a dialogue box after it times out saying "Internet explorer cannot download login?.rand=......."
I'm using Yahoo UK mail, with NTL 750k broadband and a Linksys Router. What abotu you guys? Can anyone alert Yahoo to this thread so that they can see that this is not an isolated problem? I've tried emailing them but had no response! |
