Increasing Host Shared Folder Access Time via Client. Is this possible?

My client computer always displays the search flashlight icon in the shared folder/hdd/printer window when I click on it. Is there a way to increase the speed when opening it?

The host instantly shows the shared folders after the first username/password. The 2 computers do not have the same lan cards and hardware. The hard drives are the same. UTP cables are 1 meter long. Static ips are already assigned. The firewall is Zone Alarm and on the host-side only with the client assigned in the Trusted Zone. Both are running Windows 2000 Professional with SP3.
