DynDNS Problems?

I registered my IP with DynDNS, but as soon as my IP changed my I couldn't access my FTP server or remotely access my PC!

Am I misunderstanding how DynDNS works? I thought if I gave them my IP they would route all traffic to the name I picked, therefore not really needing to know what my current IP was.

Please explain.

Thanks.

Sorry to be such a moron, but where exatcly is that option? I looked but didn't find anything.

Another thing, when I logged onto my account it had my current IP listed and it was right, does that mean it's working properly?

Another thing. Since it just had my current IP correct does that mean it's working? And how long should it take DynDNS to 're route' traffic after my IP changes ? Minutes? Hours?

DNS information is cached at the DNS servers. It can take a while for it to expire and get refreshed.

Did you set up one of the client programs that notifies DynDns that your IP has changed? I set up DeeEnEs. You need something to tell DynDns that your IP has changed.

Dyndns

JCBUCHE, you have to install this client on your server:

http://cdn.dyndns.com/windows/DynUpSetup.exe

It takes 60 seconds to DynDNS apply your new IP on DNS servers...
