Using USB Camera as security camera Via a Wired Network...
Hello,
I have 5 computers (1 Win XP, 3 Win ME and 1 98 system) setup in my wired home network, I also have 2 usb cameras-
Is there a way that I can attach the camera (leave it on all the time) and view it through another computer on my LAN, maybe even tape the scene every few minutes or seconds or even when motion is detected.
I'm sure there must be some software or tweak can be done but I've had no luck finding it online.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Yeah, there is webcam software that is motion sensing.

I used one of them a few years ago. Worked pretty well, but you have to be careful where you point it.

Let me see if I can find what I used.

There's quite a bit of software that will do this. Some record constantly and only keep the segments where there is movement. Some have motion detection tech to start recording when there's movement. Some record constantly and save everything.
