Windows 98 and Wireless woes
I installed a Linksys Router
set up 64 bit encyrption
got the wep code
Then installed an Ovislink PCMCIA card in a Dell Lappy with 98
The link is excellent
My problem is the PC won't aquire an IP in the
WINIPCFG WINDOW, the wireless card is there but will not release or renew
Any 98 tricks out there for this?

do you have the latest software installed? If so i assume the software sees the SSID?
Are you using mac address filtering at all?
have you tried to turn off wep and make sure it can connect?

Hooked up a D-LINK Router without encyrption and it links right up with an IP.
Surffing like nobodies business.
Do you think it's in the encyrption ?

with the software you installed for the card, it should of asked for the WEP key. I assumed you entered it correctly?

if im adding a wep key to several machines, i usally just copy and paste the key to a text file and throw i on a floppy. typing out that key serveral times sucks
