Wireless network for laptop??

hey everyone,

Just a quick question. Ive got a Netgear DG834G wireless adsl router/firewall which i want to use to share my AOL broadband with a dekstop and a laptop pc. In my desktop ive got a netgear WG311 wireless pci card. My question is, is there a certain cable i can get to connect my laptop to the wireless router instead of getting a PC Card or USB adaptor (as ive heard that a cable would be cheaper). Can anyone kindly let me kno please?

THanks

well if the laptop has a built in ethernet port then you just get a cat5 patch cable to go from the laptop ethernet port to one of the available ports on the router.

you can get em anywhere like officemax etc...but try walmart first...or better yet, if u have a "big lots" go there and get the same thing for half as much.

of course for a laptop wireless is especially convenient so u can sit in bed or in a chair with it in your lap etc....so if you get a cable you will have to be close to the router..dependign on how long of a cable you get....of course they come up to 100ft so, lol.

sample cat5 cable http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...90206?v=glance

youd probably want a 25 or at least 12-15 footer depending on where the router is etc

on the other hand a usb adapter etc might be nearly as cheap as a long cable
