hi
heres my setup -
dlink 502T router connected to DSL line. 2 PC's
my PC connected to router via ethernet
room mate laptop (win2000pro) connected to router via USB output of router. (no ethernet on her old laptop.
i want her to be able play movies and music files hosted from my PC as she doesnt have the hard drive space to copy and play them on her lappy
just wondering if anyone knows a SIMPLE way of being able to do this.

fixed the above error.
the only thing it doesnt mention is how to connect to a winxp system using NTFS (mine) from a win2000pro using FAT32.
i have more googling to do i think |

share the folder you want the win2k machine to have access too.
then on the win2000 machine right click on my computer, click map network drive
then type
\\computername\share folder name
ie
\\groundzero3\music
or if you just want to access the whole winxp drive
\\computername\C$

being a complete novice with networking, im having difficulties enabling my winxp system to allow sharing of a folder. the check box to share a folder is greyed out.
i dont use windows firewall BTW.
Norton, router firewall and nat. |
