Customizing Windows Firewall

Hi everyone !
I use winXp with sp1 and i have a LAN with direct proxy.

I am facing a problem. when i disable winXp firewall everything starts connecting but the real problem is it also starts sending ICMP packets to main server. I got blocked twice for sending virus as reported by my network admin.

when i enable winXp firewall only it allows Browsing .

AOL , MSN , Ftp nothing connect there and no unusual uploading actvity takes place. that means atleast i m saved when firewall is enabled.

I have Norton anitivirus all updated defs. It found W32.Pinfi and W32.Explet.A@mm virus . i disabled its registry entries and defined by www.symantec.com. Still i have " LOCALS~1\Temp\lnb8A.tmp
is infected with the W32.Pinfi virus " but i believe its not the main issue.

I would also like to tell that MS spydector and ZoneAlram 3.0.118 are also installed but they are useless once XP firewall is Disabled

NOW i would like to know that What Protocoles or service should be opened in winxp firewall and in Administrative Tools---> services , to be able to connnect Messengers and FTP service.

I hope some of you can help me.........that would be sooo kind of u
