All,
I've spent a couple of weeks trying to resolve an Xbox/Linksys problem. I have a wireless router, Linksys WRT54GS, connected to a cable modem. This is upstairs. The 14 yr old has an Xbox downstairs. Instead of trying to route cables through the house, I purchased a Linksys WGA54G wireless game adapter.
I have spent countless hours configuring the game adapter, playing with various settings, to no avail. Xbox insists on using WEP security, but I am using WPA-PSA security on my router.
The Xbox website hasn't been much help, and neither has the Linksys website. Do any of the experts here have any suggstions for me? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for all the help!! |

| that was two years ago, if they dont have anything by now on thier site (phone support is the WORST from linksys)
Why not use 128 WEP, enable mac address filtering and change the key once a month and you should be fine. |

Does Xbox support WPA? Or is it both that do not yet support WPA? |

It has nothing to do with the xbox, it has to do with the adapter |

In order for me to use the same wireless router for my work, I have to use WPA. If I didn't have that restriction, I'd change my router.
Can I connect a second router to my cable modem? |

So what are my alternatives?
1. Hardwire the Xbox to the router - could be done, poking holes through walls and ceilings. Not pretty, but it would work.
2. Change my router security settings to WEP - this would adversely affect my ability to connect to my work.
3. Any other ideas?
Thanks so far!! |

OK, I could do that, but what do I have to do to the router to allow it to do WEP security instead of or in addition to WPA security? Sorry if that's a dumb question! |
