A problem with Google/Yahoo search

Whenever I do a search on Google, I get like 4 results on the first page, and there's also 2 messages at the top saying "Not Found - The requested URL /x.php was not found on this server."
Then when I try and move on to the next page nothing happens.
It's the same with Yahoo.

Edit: Forgot to mention, it does it in both Firefox and IE.

Wow, that's no good...

Try cleaning out your internet files, something may be screwing something else up.

Check for spyware, also. You know, the normal stuff...

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Had to go out as soon as I posted this.

Cleaning out all the internet files hasn't worked, nor did spyware/virus scans.

Seems to only be certain search engines, because AskJeeves works fine.
But Yahoo and Google are related somehow aren't they?

What browser are you using?

It could be that your browser is not allowing certain code, and yahoo and google may use a type of code in their search engine that your computer is being a hater about.

Ah, si, thanks for pointing that out, willthegrinder.

Okay... Then it's gotta be some sort global setting...?

Not sure exactly what, just trying to help you narrow things down to know where you need to be looking, and what-not.

Google was shifting databases this last week. It was supposed to be "seamless" but several people experienced problems. They're supposed to be finished with the transfering this Wednesday. Last I knew, Yahoo had stopped using Google databases and started using the Inktomi databases, which wouldn't explain why this issue occurs on both of these search engines. Yahoo and Google both use the Open Directory Project database, which may have something to do with it. Ask Jeeves does use the Google databases.

You might want to try one of these search engines and see what results you get:
Lycos (uses google db)
Altavista (uses yahoo and odp db)
MSN (uses yahoo db)
ixquick (uses independent db)

Well, it's now working all of a sudden.

I haven't changed anything since I last tried it and it didn't work, so I have no idea why it's now working.

Oh well, as long as it works. Thanks for the info guys.

Maybe it's because it realized that you were wanting to fix it, heh...

Oh well, have fun.
