help with comcast

at my gf's she just got comcast high speed and i went to set it up and it just dosent work... she's got a sbg900 modem and the receive, send, online light all come on and if you go to the configuration manager it says it is connected, she uses a intergrated, NVIDIA nForce MCP Networking Controller, and it says it is conected to the modem but no internet????

called comcast they had me power cycle it... and check all the settings on her computer. all were fine. but no internet, he said it could be an issue with the NIC card has any one heard of a problem with the NVIDIA nForce MCP nework controller

When i first got comcast here i hooked it up and it would not work I did all the standard stuff and called them.. Well they had me redo all the standard stuff and it turned out that they had a filter out in the street somewhere for picture quality (old out there for 20 yr) and when they removed it bam worked find....

also about 2 yrs ago their cable failed they had to replace all the cable from the street to my house..

yeah i called to register the modem... gave them the model, and mac address.....and its not a problem with the cable itself cause the modem connects and it has good signal strength
