anyone hear of an "N" relay plate?

Hi all,

A buddy of mine said that if you had a wireless router, say at 2.4ghz that there's a new piece of equipment or piece of hardware that will attatch to a current router to increase it's wireless distance, this piece he said was called a "N" relay plate or something like that...I'm not sure if it increases the "Ghz" or what, but from what I understood he said it will allow users who have routers to increase there wireless distance...and from what I know, you'd have to increase the frequency range to allow a stronger and further wireless conection, if anyone knows what the piece of hardware he's talking about is and what it does could you please explain, much appreciated!!

He's probably either pullin' yer leg or confused with the upcomming 802.11n spec

Unless you get it moving pretty damn fast (doppler effect) you won't change the frequency without changing the radio itself ... plain fact of physics.

Other way around. Lower frequency signals propagate farther. Higher frequencies can carry more data, but at the expense of shorter range. The frequency is also unrelated to the "strength" of the signal.

Your friend seems very confused ...

Could be talking about the Pre-N AP's coming out with MIMO for longer range. Might be talking about an N connector on an aftermarket antenna or something like that. With what you've written it's pretty much impossible to tell because it makes absolutely no sense. Perhaps find out exactly what your friend is saying and we can comment on it more succinctly.

Maybe he was talking about a wireless range extender.
