    Setting Up Wireless Router

I cant seem to set up a wireless router. I dont get it. OK well i have a wired router, and then i connect the wireless from the wired using the Uplink. connection. Now when i hook it up and turn it on, its up and running and the light s are flashing. And then i have the reciever hooked up through USB on the computer that needs the internet. So mostly i just need a wireless tutorial on how to hook up a wireless router....

If you can, hook a computer into the Uplink of the wireless router and then type in 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.0.254 in a web browser and see if ti allows you to get into the Web Menu. It should say in the manual what you need to do.

The address for the admin screen on the WRT54G is 192.168.1.1 with the default password of admin.

Did you go through the install disk for the USB adapter? I'm assuming it was something like the WUSB54G?

jrsweger, 192.168.1.1 is the default, but the wireless is hooked up form the wired router (uplink port), so it wouldnt be 192.168.1.1. i will try that joshwilson_1

There is no setup screen that you access for the wireless USB adapter at least not through HTTP. Once you install the software for the adapter, you should have an icon show up in your system tray as well as in your start menu. I just installed one last week so I'm sure of that. The instructions specifically stated to install the software prior to connection of the adapter.

    edit

You can access the WRT54G's setup screens from the wireless by using the same address, 192.168.1.1

I dont think you can really work a router that way can you? going from one router to another...

why not just use the wireless router by itself?

JP is right, why not just dump the wired router and just put the wireless in its place?

If you want to use the wireless router still, plug a computer into the router by itself. (not connected to the other network)

log into the router (192.168.1.1 through IE) disable DHCP and then i would change the ip of the wireless router too.

Then plug the wireless router into an open port on the wired router. (DO NOT PLUG INTO THE WAN PORT ON THE WIRELESS ROUTER)
