hey...you never want to post an e-mail on the internet like that because spammers use bots to scan websites like this forum and whenever they see the @ symbol they copy your e-mail and you'll start to get spam as they sell your e-mail to other people. it happened to me so i'd suggest editing your post and replacing the @ with * as for your problem. do you have any security on your network like wep or wpa or do you have no idea lol.

no security is set up, i know how to get to the part in the router that says where it is turned off but idk how to get it set up for everything to work. when i turn the wep on i lose my wireless and have to go on the computer that is plugged in and turn it back off

lol...when you turn the wep on....you have to copy down the key form the page...then (assuming xp) you view available wireless networks and click on your network. It will come up and ask for the key. you type it in and click ok and it'll stay connected from now on. it saves the key for you though, so you only have to do it once .

http://support.dlink.com/emulators/d...eless_11g.html on this page you see key 1? That's what you want to copy down..just that one (and make sure the radio button next to it is the one selected that is what you enter into your computer and you are all set (this has to be entered on every single product that accesses the network wirelessly

/edit forgot to say..if your wireless adapter supports it..i'd recommend using wpa-psk instead of wep...it's stronger

I don't know about your particular router, but most wireless routers have a MAC address filter where you can add your mac address and exclude all others. Also pretty easy to do.

actually..just so u know....wpa is easier to set up. instead of having a key that's all code like 123ab456cd it's just anything you wanna put. it could be your dogs name or something like that. it just has to be at least eight characters that's what I love about wpa

yes it does....one of the things i LOVE about d-link is that i can go to their website, and they have an emulator....so i can look at all the settings in their firmware and help people configure their router it makes SO much easier lol. linksys needs to set something like this up!!!
