Just a "Slow Download Speed" thread from someone who is clueless about routers.

Okay, so my buddy has cable. His download speeds are crap. I asked him if he has a router and he said yes. He has a LinkSys but he does not know the exact one.

He's running Win2k Service Pack 4.

I searched google for a solution, but I found nothing. Or atleast I don't think I found anything.

Thanks,
-FMA

The first thing I would do is go to broadbandreports.com and do atleast 3 speed tests to make sure the server you are downloading from does not have a problem.

I second that, but would add running the tweak test and following the recommendations in the test results to fine tune the network settings for broadband.
