Is there any hardware or software i can buy to increase speed or get better pings? I have a wireless -b linksys router and Adelphia High Speed Cable.

Nope, call your ISP and complain if you want better pings.

well the problem is your wireless router, you will get a much better ping if you play your games wired in rather than wireless, especially if it's 11mb wireless, 54g might be another story, but 11b is horrible for gaming.

If you have a good amount of RFI/EMI, packet corruption will greatly increase what most people sense as ping and also have a VERY adverse effect on overall speeds.A wireless router adds 5ms max..... if that ... the difference between b and g has no effect on the ping...

here's my experience with cable modems and crappy pings:
moved from shreveport LA to austin TX, had roadrunner at both places so i knew it worked and it was fairly decent quality.
got to austin, immediate problems. wierd pings, time outs on pages, just like if you have a bad MTU setting and you are fetting all kinds of fragmented packets. after 3 seperate tech calls they finally decided to send someone out (apparently horrible intermittant packet loss doesn't cut it, you need a complete failure for them to send anyone out, and this time i was getting just about that)
and guess what! when they set me up, the guy gave me a crappy older modem that they had already phased out, so the next technician told me. lovely.
after replacing the modem everything has been fine. no more laggy pings, no more packet loss, no even when it's raining.
that's my experience,t hat was my problem, just something to consider, since there are alot of htings that could be causing your sub-par ping, especially if it is to a game server that sits on the other side of a bad router from you, in which case there is nothing you can do but move, or wait for the infrastructure to be upgraded at the point of failure.

i would plug into the router and see what your speeds are
determine if its the wireless or the ISP itself before you attempt anything else

my ping isnt crappy or anything i get around 50 which is good i was just asking cause like everyone i want more. another question though along these lines...my little brother gets terrible pings and hes right next door with a hardline to my router. i was just wondering if theres something to give more speed to him so i dont have to here him complain.
Btw i dont know many terms or abbreviations so dont give me a " connect your vbi to your qre and then disconnect the jxs and reconnect the ijt" responses cause then ill pass out.

well many things can be affecting your brothers ping, his system specs, what he has running in the background, etc

I prefer not to be stopped in the street just because someone decided my clothes were "wrong" or my hair was "too long". I do understand and partly agree with your point, but this was too much, IMO.
Do you think this was a legitimate...
