Problem renewing ip address...
A guy I know is having trouble with another computer and his connection to the internet.
So when he tries to repair the problem he gets this message:
Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed:Renewing your IP Address
Any thoughts on what it could be?
Also, here's a link to a thread he started about it : http://www.kingtomato.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1167

I think u quoted the problem wrong
it says
-------------------------
Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed:
Clearing the ARP cache."Even a fool is thought to be wise if he is silent"

he needs to post how he has his network set up. Does he have a router, or he is plugging right into his ISP?

(I didn't read the other thread)
What kind of connection are you on? What operating system? Did the problem just seem to start happening out of the blue?

You straight from the cable modem or through a router? Onboard ethernet or PCI card?
It's worth trying a winsock repair: http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

I think I'm straight from the cable modem. Maybe PCI card not sure though.
Ok I ran the winsock repair thing. It didn't do anything.Last edited by UltimateDeath; July 9th, 2005 at 12:06 AM.

I've got a customer having the exact same problem. What is working for them at the moment is a new NIC. (network card, USB at the moment) I can manually clear the ARP cache but the automatic 'repair' option keeps giving the same error. Either way, the new NIC is running along just fine. The old one is dog slow. So moral of the story is: for my customer a new NIC is the solution.

I was hoping it would be something minor and could easily be fixed. But it looks like I'll be calling for a repair guy.
