    Sharing??????????????

     
    okay, i have two comps. on a home network. both running winxp pro, i'm able to share folders that i permit, but i would like to share a whole drive. i don't want to select each folder and share them, thats too much work..........plus i would like to learn. i know when i was running win98 i was able just to select the drive and share it.

    select your drive in explorer, right click go to properties sharing. Click through the warning. Thats all

    To share the Drive click on file select sharing and security, your there it doesnt get easier than that!

    I don't have XP around at the momment but don't you have to choose New Share if you want the share to be seen by browsing to it?

    your right, you do have to choose "New Share" to be able to share all the folders on that drive.

    Sharing isn't possible under w9x if it's not enabled.
    To enable it, you need to choose 'I want others to be able to access my files' from network neighborhood properties.

    make sure you have something like Zonealarm installed. Keeps the bad ol hackers away. (Enabling sharing and sharing files and stuff opens up security vulnerabilities).
