    Angry VPN Problems

I just upgraded my home PC with a new network card RTL8139 10/100BT. After the upgrade my Cisco VPN v4.6 software would not connect to my work network. I uninstalled the Cisco Client and re-installed but still no connection. The Cisco Client locks up during the Initializing Connection...... The only error I see is in the VPN Client log....

    1 17:41:39.171 10/04/05 Sev=Warning/2 CVPND/0xA3400018
Output size mismatch. Actual: 0, Expected: 237. (DRVIFACE:1341)

    This error repeats every second....

I am using WinXP SP2 with a Linksys router WRT54G. The computer is hard wired into the router.

I have tried to connect with no firewalls turned on.

I also tried to re-install the old NIC card but it's so old the WinXP does not like it... it was allway's flakey....

I hope someone will have an idea for me to try......

When the DNE is active on my normal Lan I can't get to the internet.. No IP address. Have tried with no firewalls, I even tried without the Linksys router. This past weekend I reloaded WinXP with SP2 after formatting the hard drive. After re-installing the Cisco Client software still could not use the VPN connection.

    Same Problem

Hello lemon, I have the exact same problem on my computer with the VPN client. Same version, same error message in the log. Uninstall/Install did not help. Were you able to solve your problem?

    Another thing

    Hi Lemon,
i also found the following error message in "FAULTLOG.TXT" in the "C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\VPN Client directory":

    1 20:42:30.184 10/28/05 Sev=Critical/1 FIREWALL/0xE3A00003
Fatal error trying to start the firewall. The firewall has not been started.

One message is generated every time I try to connect. I guess this is the root of the problem. But what is the solution?

Check with the network group at your workplace. All the VPN problems I had were either a problem on their end or I was using older client (i.e. when going from XP to Vista OS at home). Using Cisco VPN Client 5.0.02.0090...working great with Vista and my workplace (just logged-off from doing some work as a matter of fact! )
