Crossover cable + 2 pcs = connection for an hour

OK a my friend is in town for a couple days so it doesnt warrant me to go out and buy a router. but he as the asus a7n8x-e deluxe with 2 ethernet ports. so we got a crossover cable and hooked everyhting up and went into network setup. the whole 9 yards but i can only keep internet connection for less than a hour even worse when playing WoW. he computer the one sharing the internet doesnt seem to be affected ofcourse. can anyone help me with this slight problem. i have googled and tried everything but cant keep a connection.

after this connection goes down, can you ping his computer at all? how bout yahoo.com? also..when you ran the network configuratoin wizard...what options did you select?

i dotn know how to ping him. cant get on any type of internet yahoo or likewise. for him i picked this computer connects directly to the internet other computers on my network connect through this computer. or something to that affect. then i selected the connection that was the internet then the 2 connections to bridge. although all this was pretty much done by the wizard.

I really need help. I cant play WoW like this for more than 40 minutes to an hour. its really getting on my nerves. in order to fix it he has to shut down his comp and usually he is in an instance and cant for awhile.
