how can i change my wan ip?

so currently i am banned from a battlefield 2 server, and i was banned by mistake (so dont flame). I already e-mailed the server like 2 or 3 nights ago and still no reply from them. I dont think they even read my e-mail. Anyways, I am wanting to change my wan ip address (or change an ip address that will let me play on that server) Any suggestions?

you need to contact your isp to see they will allow you too.

Its up to the ISP (you will find an ip change when your change out the network card or router)

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention i phoned them, and they are *removed* retards (excuse my language). I was like I need to change my wan IP, and they were just like OK go to control panel, then go to network conections then click on local area and they told me to type something in and it will change my ip, which i think it did changed my ip (yeah my LAN ip OMFG) I clearly told them I wanted to change my WAN ip not some other thing and they were like ok so you need to contact that server because apparently what we have just done did not work. I phoned 2 times. and on the first time I phoned the retard was like oh You need to get a new network card. I was like wtf so i tried a spare network card and guess what that didnt worked either.

You may want to edit that language out of your post, we don't allow that here.

if you use a public proxy and figure out how to map bf2 to it, it will be way too slow

Open your router configuration and check to see if WAN is set to dynamic ip. If so, unplug the router and keep it unplugged for a few hours. If you're lucky, you'll have a new IP.

Your ISP tech support probably didn't know about your router. Usually ISPs don't support routers anyway.

Don't speak down on tech support. We may get offended.

WAN... LAN lets face it they sound pretty similar. Don't ask them to change you WAN IP anyway just ask for your IP to be changed they will understand. However chances are they can't actully do anything for you. What type of connection do you have?

Are you familure with how IP leasing works from a DHCP server? My ISP is set to a day, and chages at midnight. The IP is leased to you, in most cases your modem will be given a renewed lease on the same IP, so unless you turn off your modem, or your ISP, shuts down servers and your connection gets cut hence your need new IP, then you may not get the same one again. But I had the same one for several years. The best way would be to find out your modems lease period.

e.g. shut down the modem about 5minutes before, and then restart it about 5 minutes after (to allow for any time differences etc...) This method would work on a cable modem, and I think DSL, ADSL etc...

ok so i looked in my routers site (192.168.2.1) and well it doesnt say about leasing time. I just noticed i had the same ip since 01/01/2002 (i think, not sure) I have dsl, and about the proxy, i really dont mind, just as long i could access the server, and at least tell people what has happened. I actually have tried unplugging my router, and modem but im not so lucky ip stays the same.

I am not very familiar how ip leasing works from a dhcp server so yeah... i dont know what to do
