WRT54G V5 problem
Hi, i've been trying to tweak LINKSYS WRT54G V5 model for a while now. still cant seem to get it to optimal performance. I was not able to update the firmware through either alchemy or freeman's firmware upgrade . I followed the upgrade instrtuction really carefully but it didnt work out afterall.
Afterall, bitcomet (torrent) is my main concern. Took me a long time w/ tech from linksys to figure out by opening port for bicomet (through Port Triggering) opening same port as the listening port as the bitcomet enable me to have somewhat internet browsing ability.
However, the IE connection seems to fluxtuate between 54kbps to 750kbps from my 2 computers. Browsing using IE is significantlly slower than not using bitcomet. It's not really optimal performance i shoudl say (runnin 6Mbps comcast). bitcomet downloading 200KBs meanwhile i'm running the test. Anyways. my concern comes when i tried to download some program from cnet.com to check out if my internet connection have been suffered. and i get only like 3Kbs per sec...(generally i get like 300+Kbs per sec from big site like cnet)
Is there anyway that i can either make v5 work along w/ 3rd party firmware or simply be able to tweak my connection back to at least 1/2 decent performance. I use torrent a lot, which i dont think this router would hold up really long.
i'm also wondering 1 thing. will it be possible that if i get a vpn router, which gives the ability to have 2 public ip, can run 2x 6mbps connection instead of spliting it in 1/2 like now with router? I know when i used to plug the usb and use ethernet port with my modem before both were getting almost optimal performance (2mbps+)on my usb side of the computer.
even my ethernet port side is under heavy bitcomet use (such as with 300Kb download per sec )
thanks in advance.Intel 820 Dual 2.8Ghz Asus P5DL2
2GB Consair DDR2 @533mhz
PCI-E Sapphire x800pro 256MB
2x SATA 250GB 1x 160GB

a vpn router will not give you the ability to have 2 public ip addresses. 2 modems and 2 connecting devices (routers) will give you that ability, and running some kind of throttling device between them can enable you to get added bandwidth performance, but simply a COTS vpn router does not provide this functionality.

Also, I saw the first episode of Titan when it came out, but plan on waiting until it finishes airing to watch the entire show. It is the highest rated new show this season on MAL so it is apparently...
