Impedance for wirelesss card???
I have a Linksys WPC54G ver.5 wirelesss notebook card and have a project I want to do with it. However, I don't know what the impedance is for the card's antenna.
Would it be 50 or 75 Ohms?
I don't have a device that will tell me at this time.
A schematic of this card might help.
Thanks.

Maybe not. What I was giving you was for the wrt54g router. I will see what I can find on the card.
FYI - 75ohm is for cable tv type cableLast edited by jman01pa; November 20th, 2005 at 10:17 PM.

I have found little info on modding that card. Here are two posts on netstumbler that may give you some insight.

50 ohms is a good guess, and probably right. The pics of those hirose connector adapters are wired straight into SMA connectors, which are 50 ohms, and I don't see any transforming networks either...

out of curiosity.... are you married to that particular card.... or even better yet, does your project give you leaway to mod the card and give the antenna a pigtail connector to add your own antenna? it would definitely be some microsoldering work (those pigtails are almost as bad as working with fiber optic ends) but at least you'd have some more solid definite specs and the freedom to alter them to your will (and wallet)
