Client-server LAN mail server?

Trying to set up a client-server mail server. Using kerio mailserver. Users cannot send or receive messages through outlook express. Do i need a service pack on my server (running windows advance server 2000)? Anyone guide me? tutorial? new mailserver? anything?

whoa now.... first things first, you have the mail server ont he LAN? can users on the LAN telnet into the mail server and get a greeting? is the mail server listenning on port 25? here's what i found on kerio's site for their quick checlist:

for the clients, what settings are in outlook express for the mail server? are you adding the server by ip address or by hostname? any authentication settings enabled?
