| Help with Linksys befw11s4 v4 please ; ;
Um hi ; ;
I am trying to connect two pcs together using this befw11s4 v4 as it has wireless ability, and I truly need it to be wireless for this.
My problem is that after connecting the working cable modem to the router, then connecting the pc to slot 1, I am unable to connect to http://192.168.1.1 to configure it.
I have tried the Netset utility on linksys's main site, also to no avail.
If I try an Ipconfig I get
DNS = blank
IP add = 68.191.249.17
subnetmask =255.255.252.0
default gate = 68.191.248.1
I am really confused at this entire endevor, building a pc was nowhere as confusing as this.
It is compounded as I need to setup this on an older compaq, I have no idea what he may have installed on this, but I havent been able to detect any firewalls.
I wont be able to get ANY internet on my pc unless I can hook up this router I wont go into detail about that, but please any help would be appreciated ; ; |

you need to either use the repair feature in windows for the network card so it pulles the ip address fromt he router, or just reboot your machine. that should force it to grab the ip from the router.
you might loose internet though, so if you haven't recycled power to the modem since moving it from your computer to the router, do that too, and also reset the router. |

well,t here is no reason you should have that ip address unless someone went int here and set it manually. might wanna check to see if that is in fact what happened. if it is, then the ip will never change. |

I did a cmd and then ipconfig /renew as it was not connecting after I repowered modem.
I really just wanted the pc to be operating when the guy gets back too skittish...
Well, any other suggestions then? I have even tried technical support from india ; ; |

Aha ^^ I figured the problem out ^^
I knew it shouldnt be this hard :3
The router was fine, his PC was fine (despite being bad in general :3)
The guy gave me the wrong power supply for the router. It was turning on and off constantly due to insufficiant voltage.
I asked him if he had any others, and when he got back from his car with 4 of them, I saw the linksys one that came with the router >:3
So embarrassed and delighted at the same time >_<
Thank you for suggestions ehe ^^ |
