D-link 524 won't connect to internet

I have a new d-link 524 router that won't connect to the internet, but does connect to my network. When I try to configure it, the install software says there is no internet connection, so it is not able to finish configuring.

but when i hook my old microsoft router back up, it connects right away to the internet. So iam not sure why my new router will not connect as it is hooked up the same way as the old router.

Is it communicating with your modem(cable/DSL/Dialup)? I use a D-Link 604 - which is a wired router - I have to connect the cable modem to the WAN socket on the router to go to the inter net - I don't know about the D-Link 524 - But is it communicating with your modem? - Lights on the router tell me we are working.

Okay checked out the router - It is wireless - has a built in firewall - you might want to check those settings - My daughters firewall settings were to high and she couldn't connect because the router firewall needed permission to let her through - Don't know if this is the case - Also electrical interference could be blocking the signal from that particular router
