    DWL-G710 slow throughput

Have a D-Link wifi setup with a range extender. The router is a 2 in 1 DSL-604+ 802.11b, the extender is DWL-G710 802.11g that is suppose to be backward comaptible.

The issue is the connection from the extender is as slow as dialup. Firmware updated, my laptop can get great speeds wireless from the router, once in range of the extender, slower than dialup even though great signal.

Also tried a PC with a D-Link wifi card, updated drivers, same thing, slow on the extender, fast once in range of the router.....

I am think compatibility issues but anyone have other ideas????

Could it be a bad extender??

    Update:

Thank you for contacting D-Link Canada Technical Support.

The DWL-G710 is unable to repeat the DSL-604+. The following list are the products that the DWL-G710 can repeat:

    DI-514 (revB) 1.03
    DI-524 (revA) 1.05
    DI-524 (revC) 3.00
    DI-624 (revC3) 2.50
    DI-774 (revA1) 1.25
    DI-784 (revA1) 2.36
    DI-824VUP(revA1) 1.03

    Yay me.......
