| Major Problem with Dynamic IP/no-ip.com
hello there,
Ive got a dynamic IP address and i seem to be having some major problems with it. Infact im not actually sure if its the Ip address (which i dont think it is) or the osftware im using for the dynamic ip address solutions?? I use no-ip. i have registered a Free FTP doamin name with them and i am currenty using their software client to update my IP address everytime it changes. Ive started to have this problem since i installed it.
Okay, this is the problem. This is what happens. When i have my FTP server up and running with the domain name pointing to the IP address everything it working fine. I can access the FTP and everything and my internet connection is working and the network is normal.
However, when ever the dynamic IP changes and the no-ip client tries to update with it although never actually gets the new IP address no matter how many times it tries, so EVERYHTING crashes. The whole network goes down on all the machines, when i go to the router settings pages, there is no IP address to be displayed there, as if there is no ADSL link to the router, its just blank. Another thing is that, my computer still detects that there is a current working internet connection, although there isnt really. So when ever i right click and try to replair the connection, the computer think nothing is wrong although i cannot open any webpages what so ever, nothing works.
Now, to fix this what i have to do is that, I switch off the router for about 10 minutes or so. also i close down the no-ip software, and restart my computer. After this everything is woking fine again until the IP changes. The cycle repeats lol.
