    Bridging two networks

In our office we have two separate networks, one hooked up the internet (internet network) and the other (office network) not. Up till now, for security reasons i have never bridged or otherwise connected the two. I am now considering bridging them, provided i can do so without compromising the security of the office network. The idea is that the office network computers will stay invisible and can not be accessed from the internet and will also not access the internet, but files can be passed between the networks and printers can be shared.

Is it possible to achieve this without compromising security on the office network?
What hardware wld i need for that? What security issues shd i keep in mind?

    look into using vlans

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_LAN

Of course buying devices that support vlans can be quiet expensive. What do you have in place right now router wise, switch equiptment, etc. You could place a router in front of secured network and limit the abilities of it.

If you are seriously concerned about the security of this network, keep it off live the network at all cost.

Unless you want to spend some money on either a good firewall or a good Layer 3 switch or a router then keeping them separate is the easiest thing to do.
