DSL Filter

Hi, I was wondering what exactly are DSL filters for? Do I only need one if I also connect a phone to the same jack? For some strange reason, my DSL connection really sucks if I plug in the filter but is almost *perfect* if I take the filter out. I don't really use the phone and if I needed to, I guess I could just unplug the DSL and plug the phone in. So is the DSL filter really needed?!?

Also, can't I just plug my phone into another jack in the house? Why do i need filters on every single jack?

Do you have a filter on the computer?
You need filters on everything ,but the computer.

Filters are used to filter out the DSL stuff so you don't see/hear any of that on your faxes/conversations. You only need filters on the phone line that you had your DSL activated on.

Like stroyal said dont put a filter on the jack that your modem is hooked up to.

DSL filters are also need to keep the phone noise from knocking the modum offline.

Only plug in filters into the phone jacks where you have normal phones plugged in. Do not put one on the phone jack where the DSL modem plugs into.

If you're using a splitter then put the filter in the splitter jack that the phone will be plugging in to.
