Dialing ISP (DUN) = Black screen & blinking yellow light???

I'm at a loss on this one. After installing a new 80gb hd, whenever the dun is clicked, windows goes to a black screen and the tower light blinks yellow... Can't turn off the pc, hit the restart, nothing. Have to turn off the power directly at the power station.

Prior to this there were no power settings in windows 98, disabled in bios also. I took out the hd and it STILL does this. The only other recent change is an ram upgrade from 256 to 768, pc100 to pc133. This was 2 weeks ago and nothing happened until the hd. Only other thing I can think of is that the new hd is ata100 and two other hd's are ata66. (all wd hd) The two older hd are primary M+S, 80b (now part. to 2 40's) is master to Sony CDRW slave.

I also tried using the modem in two other pc's, one did the exact same thing, one didn't.

Asus A7V, Athlon 800, win98se, (pos) modemblaster DI6530.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
