Port Forwarding

HI ,I have a belkin wireless router F5D7230-4 and have it connected to my laptop and desktop which works fine but when I go into the settings of belkin and set it up as static Ip address so i can open P2P it doesnt work. I have set the desktop to static Ip and the router to forward ports.When I go back into the settings on router shouldnt I see the setting for the ports I forwarded? They are gone when I go back and I am getting very very slow downloads. I checked the ports with a program I downloaded and it says they are closed. I go back and reset the ports and the static Ip address on router again but still same results,I dont think it is keeping the settings I put in.Please help if u can. Thanks

you say you are setting up static ip addresses on the router? I dont get what that means, are you talking about assigning static ip addresses by mac address?

You should have to enter the ip address of the client you want to access, and if you are worried about the computer changing addresses set up static ip addresses on the client machine.

I did the steps according to portforwarding .com . But when I go back into router my settings are gone. I check and it says ports are closed. So why isnt it taking the settings. I did just as it said to do but they are gone,shouldnt I see them when I go back in? thanks

you're clicking save or apply or whatever (not sure what belkin labels it)
