    DHCP issues?

Sorry if this is a bit long-winded but... I've got a network setup as follows:
NTL cable modem through a belkin .11g router wired thru ethernet to my main desktop. Laptop connects OK with a wireless card. Been stable for a year or so.
Came to add my son's desktop (15ft away from the router)thru a belkin PCI card and it installs OK, picks up the network with the wep key, but doesn't receive anything from the dhcp server, so the ip address is all cocked up and there is no internet access even if I try to manually configure it. I tried everything I could, driver updates, removed all firewalls (ZoneLabs), firmware updated the router with no luck. Tried belkin tech support who said in the end the card was knacked.
Took it back for a replacement and the same thing happens again. Spoke to belkin again who said this time it was my computer at fault, but I've tried it in the other desktop right next to the router and the same thing happens. I'm at a complete loss now so any ideas? Take the card back and try another? Or is it the router - bearing in mind it does assign my laptop an address.

If your router supports wired connections, try it that way as a test. Also post an "ipconfig /all" from your desktop and post it here.

Just got it sorted, someone on ocuk suggested turning off WEP and hey presto - connected. What's that all about?
