My Internet connectivity is strange -PLZ help

Hi friends,
My laptop runs on 'Integrated 802.11b Intel wireless router'. when ever i switch on my laptop or restart, my internet connection gets connected and shows full signal. after sometime it will show 'no connectivity'.
some times it happens that i would have full signal strength. but i can open any website. the strange thing here is, if i open any forum i will be able to browse them continuously. but website pages dosent open. another strange thing is, my downloads or uploads that i setup earlier wouldnt break even if it says 'no connectivity'. I dont know whats goin on with my internet connection. plz help me

well, if you are not sure whether you are connecting to an access point or not, then the full signal is probably an ad-hoc network the connection is creating with itself, in which case you really have no connection to any wireless network.

do you have a wireless router/access point in your home or in your neighborhood you know you're connecting to?

i have a router for my internet connection. it is netgear and has firewall in it. is it that the firewall is blocking internet connection to my laptop. why will it block and what is the solution????????

and you are positive that your laptop is connecting to your netgear router?

ya. i am positive that i have connectivity. my wireless says connectivity is good. but its strange that my browser dosent open any website.

so you have other machines using this same router to connect to the internet, and they don't have any problems?
