    Cool Finally got ICS going.

When I tried sharing my Internet connection with my mom's computer through 2 NIC's on my PC a few months ago, the internet stopped working. Today I tried to redo the whole thing, but assign a few IP addresses and Subnet masks and now both PC's have access to our DSL. I'm running 2 NICs on my PC and 1 is connected to DSL modem, the other is connected through crossover to my parents' PC. I'm using Microsoft ICS and it works, plus me and my bro can play AOE on both PCs now. yeppeee

great to hear its working for you, curious why didn't you just go for a router?

I have a router running right now but i was thinking of setting up a machine with win2k and sharing out my cable. curious if i had a machine with a 500 mhz 256 mb of ram would it be better than the router? of course running zonealarm or something

Well, first of all, I don't have money ( I barely had enough to buy Arctic Silver and a fan grill today). Second, I had a spare Ethernet card laying around, it was getting wasted. Third, I only have 2 PCs so a 4 port router would be unnecessary, although I would like one especially after my cousin let me try-out his D-Link router.

Yep I agree with you lost, I think ICS is a good way to go for your situation. You can always ask for a router, for a future b-day gift or something
