    How does Gmail do it?

     
    Hey guys, just thought I would ask a quick question: How is Gmail so fast? Is it because the GUI of the website is lil - none? No large pictures to load etc.? I am on dial-up and I have my MSN account and it takes forever, but on my gmail account, click on an email and it opens almost instantly. Anyways my theorie is it is just simpler, no ads etc. so is faster. Thanks!

    There are many ways that websites can be optimized.

    The main thing would just be code cleaning. Have as little code as possible to get the job done. Less code + less(or no) pictures = superfast web page loads(pictures are the biggest problems, if you would get rid of all of the pictures on websites, most would load fast for everyone).
