My first sticky, thanks xD
But I can't celebrate now, as I have a backlog of accounting homework to do... |

Yeah, accounting is done, with 12 minutes to spare! And glad to help. I don't recall what I was searching for when I found this, but it's quite the goldmine of information.
Would the addition of some keywords for each chapter be helpful? It would produce more hits for people searching the forum for more precise items, and provide for a more comprehensive description of each chapter, but it would increase the size of the thread significantly (2-4X as long). I could greatly reduce the size of the extended post if there were a way to do hover menus in vb code, or if such HTML code could be included into the post, but I don't see a way to do that at the moment. |

I find the 7 layer OSI model a hard load to choke down and retain. If you're going to do a Cisco class you have to memorize it. I suppose it has its points but so far the only point I can see is if you need to pass a Cisco test. Then it becomes real iimportant. As you move through the Cisco training the layers become bigger with more things added to them and more and more. Jeez. Otherwise I really like the Cisco classes. Good find. Thanks for the links. I'm sure I'll be referring back to them more than once.

I had a hard time plugging the layers into my brain, especially with different layer models for different aspects of technology. But it does have its application (er, applicable) benefits.
